PROJECT #17 - Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre

The Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre was first thought of back around the year 2005 but work did not begin until November 2007. The Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre cost £21.5 million in development but has reaped rewards for this by winning accolades for its innovative design.

The building combines a cinema that offers artistic and world films with work space, retails space and living to deliver the best in innovative design. The cinema is a replacement for the Phoenix Arts Centre that outgrew its previous building towards the Magazine Gateway area of the city.

The living quarters in the building vary in size with the larger apartments being around 900 square feet and coming complete with a large balcony. The only downside to the design of the apartments has been the window size and ability to open which has turned off some buyers.

As was as being aesthetically pleasing, the Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre has also been designed with the environment in mind and is extremely energy efficient.

The Phoenix Square building was completed in 2009 and opened on the 19th November 2009.

The Phoenix Square Digital Media Centre awards include:

Daily Express First Time Buyers Readers Award
Commercial Developer of the Year
Regeneration Project of the Year
RIBA East Midlands Design Awards 2010

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
