PROJECT #1 Leicester Mercury

The Leicester Mercury project was to reburbish the older and tired looking building with a reclad to make the Mercury Building keep up with regeneration happening in the city. The building itself is found on the cusp of the Business Quarter and Cultural Quarter so was an important part of the councils project list for regeneration.

The Mercury Building houses the local newspaper called the Leicester Mercury and is a 110,000 square foot building found in St Georges Street.

The project to reclad the Leicester Mercury building was estimated at around £12 Million and was completed in 2006. Since the reclad the building has improved aesthetically and many feel the building is more inkeeping with the changes to the area.

Currently 550 people work in the Leicester Mercury building for the Leicester Mercury which is owned and run by the Daily Mail and General Trust.

THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
